Summer Lipstick Love – The Top 3

We have been treated to even more sunshine, which has made me reach for bright colours in all aspects of my life. Salads are more colourful, Juices are brighter, I have even been moving away from the monochrome uniform I always go to and switching it up for some colour. With all of this, comes brighter makeup choices. Dosing my lips with balm has been switched for the little beauties that follow.

So…..today I give you my Top 3 go to lipstick colours I can not live without in Summer:

The Nude:

You can not go wrong with a nude lipstick! Day or night, at work or on the town, no matter what it just works! I might have mentioned this before, but when I am really run down, my bottom lip goes blue. I have no idea why, but to avoid any weird questions, I opt for one of these little gems to cover it up, without using a a super bright:

Top: MAC Patisserie Bottom: Kiko Lip Pencil

Worth the splurge: MAC Patisserie

Counting the pennies: Kiko Automatic Precision Lip Liner in 502

Tips For Picking a Nude:

Be careful you not to match it to you lips and not your skin. Matching it to you skin on your hand will make you look like you have concealer on your lips….come on ladies its not cool.

The Bright:

For a sudden injection of colour on my frequent slips back into monochrome land, I love to pop a bit of bright lipstick on, just to please my Summer side. This Summer I have been reaching for the Bright Pinks. This instantly gives your skin a lift, and ideal for Summer Days and Lunches:

Top: Bourjois Bottom: Nars

Worth the splurge: Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Yu

Counting the pennies: Bourjois Rouge Edition in 7 Fuchsia Graffiti

Tips For Picking Brights:

Go with your instincts when it comes to brights. Its either go big or go home! The brighter you want the go the better.

The Red:

I love a red lipstick. Its the Saucy Sister of The Nude. Another all day favourite that I can not live without. It’s my forever friend that follows me through all seasons, but this time of year I like to go for a slightly brighter more orange toned shade. Going for a matte shade will ensure that you don’t end up smudging your perfectly selected shade all over your morning coffee.

Top: Nars Bottom: Maybelline

Worth the splurge: Nars Annabella

Counting the pennies: Maybelline Colour Drama Velvet Lip Pencil in 520 Light It Up

Tips For Picking Reds:

Always line your lips. Reds have this sneaky little habit of bleeding outside the lip line, so make sure you line your lips for the perfect edge.

So, I hope you have enjoyed a little walk through my makeup choices.

Have a great weekend lovelies xXx
