March Favourites

Happy Spring Everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the lighter evenings and the little green shoots popping up!

I know I say this about Autumn and Winter, but I do love when Spring starts. It’s so lovely to see the little green shoots, the bunnies running around and the new seasons fruits and veggies coming into the supermarket. Just think, in a few weeks fresh berries will be a reasonable price! Yaaay!!

March has been wonderful! It was my Dadums birthday so I have spent some time celebrating with him. I have also been spending some well-deserved time on myself to read and sleep after some very stressful few weeks.

So….what has been keeping me going this month…..let’s have a look:

In the kitchen:

This will probably come as no shock, but I have been loving chickpeas! I even wrote a separate blog post about them.

I have been making them into humus, roasting them with other veggies, adding them to curries and other saucy dishes. They are amazing in little lettice boats, so they have been amazing for lunch at the 9 to 5.

In the bathroom:

I have been trying so so hard to do my bit for the planet and reduce the amount of single use items flowing through our home. I have become so obsessed with it is starting to become a problem. So much so that The Husband has called me the recycling police…..woops!  This little obsession has now spread to our bathroom.

For Christmas my wonderful sister in laws picked me up these reusable cotton pads. They are AMAZING!!!! Soft, easy to use and wash really well! I have even used these little guys to take of red lipstick and there was not a stich of it left after I had washed them!

In the bedroom:

We are now one of those homes…….”Ok Google……..set a timer for 10 minutes”.

I swore that we would not get into this home/hub situation, but after setting up my Mum’s Google home we decided to invest. We have 2 of these little guys, one in our living room and one in the bedroom.

For some reason, I seem to use the bedroom one more. I set a cleaning timer through it, I play the radio or podcasts through it, I even set our morning alarm through it for the rear moments we are up at the same time or I am home alone.

In the not so distant future we will be investing in the light bulbs and plugs that are compatible with our new little friends so we can turn lights and heating on when we fancy. If anyone has read “The Illustrated Man” and has a concern about computers taking over the world, don’t worry we are all friends here!

In The House of Lotz Retreat and Spa:

I never really talk about TV shows, but I am so so happy that The Orvile is back on our screens! If you have not seen it and are a bit of a Sci Fi fan I thoroughly recommend this show! It is super funny and takes all the things that Sci Fi fans love and moan about and jack it up to 11!

I am forcing The Husband to re-watch Red Dwarf at the moment as well, and he has now realised how much he hates a pan shot of a spaceship! I on the other hand love it even more!

In The Portable House of Lotz:

Over the last few months I have been a bit lazy with keeping my bag tidy. I have just been throwing things in and praying for the best. This month I have been trying to get on top of things and make sure my bad is super tidy!

I can officially say that all has gone well and I am now keeping my bag in a more orderly fashion! I can now find my keeps and reusable straw without taking my bag apart.

Book of the month; “The Axeman’s Jazz” by Ray Celestine:

Another fantastic read for this year has come and gone. If you like a crime novel, I would 100% recommend it!

This story takes place in New Orleans in the early 1900s. The hunt is on for what police believe is a voodoo priest who is murdering Italian grocers in the area. A disgraced police officer, a PI’s assistant and New Orleans finest are on the hunt for this serial killer.

The twists, turns and descriptions of the local colour and culture are all incredible. I really did feel like I was in New Orleans soaking up the absinth and opium.

I have already picked up the next book in the series and cannot wait to get stuck into it!

I hope you have all enjoyed the first part of spring! Don’t forget the clocks go forward this evening in the UK!

Have a wonderful weekend xXx hugs and love xXx
