June has brought with it all the seasons!! We have had a weekend of summer, a few weeks of autumn and A LOT of rain! As I write this, I have the windows open to air the house through, but I am fast considering closing them because the wind is crazy…and its humid! What the heck!
June also brought with it our 14th anniversary! We spent the week going for dinners (which where wonderful) and spending time together, so I would not have been more happy!
It also brought with it Father’s Day and it was amazing to treat my Dadums to something special!
So, other than the gushy stuff what has been keeping me going? Let’s get into June Favs!
In the Kitchen:
I have been getting back into iced coffees over the last few weeks…..I know the weather has been all over the place, but iced coffee is always the way to go when June hits….however we had a bit of an issue this year…we had no ice cube trays!
After mooching through Amazon I found these silicon ones that make the perfect sized cube and are easy to pop out!
In the Bathroom:
In my bid to be kinder to my body and the environment, I switched from a standard deodorant to a salt based deodorant over a year ago. This little guy is aluminium free, has no fragrance but also keeps order away and lasts AGES and works amazingly well.
If you are thinking of making the switch to a low waste more natural option, I would 100% recommend it!
In the Bedroom:
I am a sucker for Jo Malone products, but my budget does not always spread that far….even though I wish it did!
The other day I desperately needed a body cream after running out of my usually English Pear and Frisia goodness. I was mooching through the supermarket and found the Waitrose Pear and Frisia body cream and it smells pretty much the same.
The texture is nothing similar to the Jo Malone product, but it does the job. I now have summer ready legs and a bit more wiggle room in my budget!!
In The House of Lotz Spa and Retreat (aka The Living Room):
WE GOT NEW SOFAS!!! Can you tell I am excited about this???
We have been trying to replace the horrid things we have in the living room for a year now and I could not be happier!! We picked these out from DFS and the service was just great (up until delivery but we wont go into that). They are comfortable, well made and the perfect place to play Crash Bandicoot or read a book.
In the Portable House of Lotz (aka in my handbag):
I have a resent obsession with hats. I have no idea where it has come from, but my collection has expanded exponentially over the last 2 months and I have been adoring the new accessory I have to play with.
The only problem is……they are a pain to carry around if you have had to take it off. I picked up these magnetic cable ties so I can clip my hat to my bag and not have to worry about dropping it!
Book of the month: “The Way We Eat Now” by Bee Wilson:
Ummmm……how do I explain this book to you without going on a rant?
The information is great. It is a great critical review of the history of eating, food and how the diet landscape is changing. There is Avery interesting piece about eating disorders and the “fat thin” generation that thrive on sugary meal replacements.
However: it is far to long and rambles more than any factual text needs to. I appreciate that I am dyslexic and some words are a little difficult for me but I spent most of my time flicking through a dictionary that reading the book.
A solid “egh” on the scale from good to pants.
So that was June! I hope you have all had an amazing month!
Have a great weekend xXx hugs and love xXx
