Getting ready for a season change

It might still be warm in the UK, but I promise that Autumn is on it’s way! The leaves are changing, there is a crisp breeze in the morning and Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back in my life…can you tell I’m excited???

With any season change I like to have a bit of time to turn my world upside down and get everything in order for what is to come. Swish away the old to bring in the new….yay!

To make sure I am ready for what is to come, I like to go through a little check list so I can sit back and enjoy the season:

Deep Clean:

These deep cleans do not just happen in the Spring my friends, particularly in The House of Lotz! We live in an area with a lot of trees, so all Spring and Summer I have been shooing pollen and tree bits out of my house. The deep clean means moving all the units out of the bathroom and kitchen to make sure everything is scooped up and stops things sprouting and random places. You laugh, but years ago we a tree trying to grow out of a pot plant in our bathroom….so sad!

Wardrobe Switch Up:

During the deep clean, I tend to pull everything out the wardrobe anyway to give it a good clean so I take advantage of the opportunity to switch all my clothes around!

It’s time to bring in the full length trousers, the long sleeved shirt and the jumpers (yaaay knitwear)!! I may be the only person who does this, but I keep all my cami tops from the summer available so I can layer thin jumpers over the top to cope with the strange UK weather…and the insistence of people that heating has to be on already!

Kitchen Catch Up:

Time to have a snoop through the cupboards people! I don’t know about everyone else but when the seasons change my cravings and food choices go through a bit of a change too. So we don’t waste anything, I mooch through the cupboards to see what needs using up from the summer (like BBQ seasoning and bright flavours) and make a note of any bits that need topping up and replacing. It’s usually the stew fixings and any grains that I have used up along the way.

Beauty and Skincare:

Going from Air Con to heating in buildings usually does not change the skin too much. Either way it is going to be dry…….but the richness of creams needs to change…..sweating stuff off is not cute!

This time of year I move from a light weight cream into something a bit heavier that can soak in over a few hours.

Makeup is a similar switch over. It’s time to move into the darker richer colours that make me so so happy!

Feeling Cozy:

After spending a summer trying to cool down and trying to get bugs out the house, it is nice to change the decor around to a more cozy feel. It’s time to bring back the blankets, the Pumpkin candle holders and the soft up lighting. Hygge the heck of your home, you wont be sorry!

Despite the fact that it’s super hot outside, I am going to wish you all a happy autumn! Bring on the cold morning and the jumpers!

Hugs and love xXx have a great weekend xXx

love this post and getting the feeling of a cozy time. However, living in Dubai means summer all year and this post really makes me miss the autumn.
